Naples, Giogiò’s mother: “Politics should ask me to take the field”

“Where are the politicians who propose that you take the field?”, he asks Daniela Di Maggiomother of the musician Giovanbattista Cutolo, killed in Naples a year ago, speaking with Adnkronos regarding the rumors that have circulated in recent months about his possible candidacy for the European Championships. Underlining that this is not a request but a simple reflection, Di Maggio specifies: “A possible invitation should arrive now, after a year of civic commitment and battles which have led, for example, to change a law on minorsnot when I was overwhelmed by grief over Giogiò’s death. I’m waiting to see which party will have the courage to tell me: ‘Daniela Di Maggio, ambassador of legality and committed for a year for the good of the city, we want her with us’. People ask me but I, anyway, every day I continue with my commitment: I travel around Italy to bring the seed of legality“.

Then speaking of Geolier’s success and the rapper’s declarations on legality: “Journalism forgets the real causes of change. Revolutions don’t happen by chance and Geolier has also changed thanks to Giovanni Battista Cutolo“. Speaking yesterday at an event promoted by the National Association of Magistrates of Torre Annunziata in front of 1,500 students in Pompeii, Geolier in fact stated: “A book is better than a gun, because it is culture that destroys crime“. Words reported by numerous press outlets, which aroused the amazement and pleasure of Mrs. Di Maggio because “if today Geolier talks about books and no longer about guns it is also thanks to the Giogiò revolution”.

“A certain type of journalism – he continues – risks indoctrinating the masses, presenting Geolier as someone who has changed and become ‘beautiful, good, good and kind’ independently. But the truth is that Geolier has also changed thanks to the promise he gave me done in front of my son’s coffin on 6 September last year, to no longer praise the gun, the weapon that took Giogiò’s life. It must be said because my son sacrificed himself for everyone. This is one for me civil battle. I’m traveling around Italy to change this society and many positive initiatives are emerging thanks to my son. This is the real revolution”, says Daniela who also recalls the various awards and recognitions dedicated to the memory of Giovanbattista and his commitment to the social, cultural and civil growth of the country.
