KIPON releases 2x extender compatible with Leica M. Optical design consisting of 7 lenses in 4 groups, using high refractive index and low dispersion glass – PRONEWS: A total guide that gathers all information about video production

KIPON has started offering the 2x optical extender “KIPON Baveyes Extender 2x MM.”

Using a Leica M lens (75mm/90mm/135mm) with a Leica M mount camera doubles the focal length, and in combination with a mechanical adapter, it also works with a variety of mirrorless cameras. The optical system is said to have been adapted from a 2x extender originally intended for the high-end film industry.

The optical design consists of 7 lenses in 4 groups, using high refractive index and low dispersion glass. Optimized to maximize contrast transmission and minimize aberrations using state-of-the-art optical design software. Ghosts and reflections are avoided during the design stage through special software tolerances and stray light analysis.

Kits are also available to use the extender with Sony E, Canon EOS R, Nikon Z, Leica L, and Fujifilm X.

*This adapter is mainly designed for M mount lenses with a focal length of 75mm or more, and some may not be compatible.
