A new car-sharing platform is starting to operate in Lithuania: it will also work in remote corners of the country | Business

As the manager of Woop Drive Ričardas Šukys says, there are more than one car sharing platforms in Europe, but the Lithuanians have created something that was not yet on the market. The new platform will differ from others in terms of vehicle protection, driver verification, flexible pricing, a wide rental car park and easy and convenient service administration. What’s more, the platform will work not only in big cities, where most competitors have concentrated their services, but also in remote corners of the country.

“I think a lot of people have one or more cars that they rarely use, for example, only on weekends. Imagine if these cars could not only take you from point A to point B, but also earn extra money. The resulting funds could be used to cover your vehicle leasing costs, help you save faster for a new purchase, travel, etc.

Our platform will help you not only rent a vehicle, but also ensure that it is returned safely. The owner himself will choose how long he wants to rent the car, who can rent the car and where it can be used. The client’s car published on the platform will be additionally insured by KASKO for the entire rental period, and all administrative actions will be performed with the help of advanced artificial intelligence technology,” says R. Šukys about the uniqueness of the new platform.

Woop Drive’s representative adds that, compared to conventional car-sharing platforms, the car owner will no longer have to worry about handing over the keys to the renter. Using advanced technology, it will be possible to unlock the car remotely.

Safety is a priority

New generation technologies will help to ensure that only persons with the right to drive will be able to rent a car, as well as the client’s accumulated driving experience and whether there are no valid administrative offenses related to driving vehicles will be assessed before the start of the rental.

“We will pay great attention to the protection of the car. Renters will have to take 4 photos of the car before and after the trip, which will be evaluated by DI. This technology will allow detection of even the smallest violations, which the owner may not immediately see. This is an innovation not only in Lithuania, but also in Europe,” says the head of Woop Drive.

According to R. Šukis, an advanced system and integrated sensors will constantly assess the condition of the car during the rental period. This will ensure that the car is used properly and does not cross the country’s borders, if the owner has not given such an opportunity to the renter.

Flexible rental terms

“Since the cars will be rented by the owners themselves, the rental price will be very competitive with other market players. We estimate that, depending on the car brand and year of manufacture, it will be possible to rent a vehicle for an hour from 6.50 EUR to 200 EUR. Those considering a longer lease can use the car for a day, a week or even a year.

Each car on the platform will have a predetermined number of free kilometers, which will be calculated based on the cost and wear and tear of the car. If the limit of free kilometers is exceeded, the additional kilometers will be charged according to the pricing adapted to that car, which the customer will be introduced to before the trip,” R. Šukys notes.

However, these are not the only advantages of the new platform. A Woop Drive manager says renters will get a double-digit discount on fuel when traveling in a rental car. The same discount applies to the owner of the car.

It is important to mention that after the car owner provides the initial data, vehicle registration certificate, technical passport, Woop Drive specialists will upload the vehicle to the platform. You won’t need to worry about that.

Earnings up to EUR 5,000

It is estimated that, depending on the car brand, year and chosen rental period, the car owner will be able to earn from 350 to 5,000 and more euros per month on the Woop Drive platform.

From today, the startup created by Lithuanians operates in all Lithuanian cities and towns – the owner of the car can rent it anywhere in Lithuania. This means that the car sharing platform operates in various corners of the country, not only in the big cities where competitors are concentrated.

“Woop Drive” is gaining ground not only in the Lithuanian market. The startup is starting its activities in Scandinavian countries as well.
