Bundesliga soccer team FC Blau-Weiß Linz definitely remembers this away trip fondly: With the 4-2 win against WSG Tirol in the sixth round of the previous season, coach Gerald Scheiblehner’s team achieved their first victory in the upper house after promotion. “It was a real liberation for us back then. Now it’s been a long time and the conditions were different,” says Blue and White coach Scheiblehner.
A look at the current table shows the club’s development over the past year: after eight rounds, Blue-White has already achieved four wins – twice as many as at the same point in the previous season.
“Want to go away for more”
The only bitter thing is that Scheiblehner is struggling with a few question marks before the away game in the holy land. There could be changes, especially in the center: Lucas Dantas and Soumaïla Diabaté were missing from yesterday’s morning training – both are sick. Alexander Briedl was there, but is also slightly injured.
Martin Moormann could soon return to the squad and is back in training. Scheiblehner takes it calmly: “We have enough strong players to be able to field a good team.”
The route is clear before the duel with the WSG. Scheiblehner: “We recently showed in Altach that we can win away from home. Of course we want to improve on that.”
