Suspected Israeli spy agency agent arrested at Kuala Lumpur hotel: Malaysian police

Malaysia An Israeli national suspected of being an agent of Israel’s secret service was arrested at a hotel on Jalan Ampang Road in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, police said on Friday.

The Malaysian newspaper Da Star reported that the police increased the security level in the country after the arrest of the Israeli citizen.

Inspector General of Police Sri Razauddin Hussain said that the police suspect that the accused is an agent of Israel’s secret agency. He said that ‘In view of the Palestine-Israel situation, we need to be careful in terms of security.’

The said Israeli man was arrested by the police on March 27 by a team from Bukit Aman and Kuala Lumpur CID.

According to Razauddin: ‘We are not accepting what they are saying, nor do we rule out the possibility that they have another agenda.’

He added that the police investigation is focused on the possibility that the suspect Israeli Intelligence is an agent.

According to Malaysia’s official news agency Bernama, Inspector General of Police Sri Razauddin Hussain told reporters that the 36-year-old suspect entered Malaysia on March 12 from the United Arab Emirates on a French passport.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused, who also holds an Israeli passport, claimed that he had come to Malaysia with the intention of hunting down and killing an Israeli citizen based on a family feud.

Razauddin said that on the occasion of the arrest (of the suspect) on Wednesday, the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department found six pistols and two hundred bullets. There were full bullets in three pistols.’

He added that security is on alert and security has been increased for King Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim and Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Anwar Ibrahim in view of the Israeli aggression.

According to Razauddin, the accused bought weapons in Malaysia using cryptocurrency. The police did not rule out the possibility that the accused had a network in the country.

He said that the accused was remanded to the custody of the law enforcement agency till March 31.
