Retirement is not negotiable: AMLO on the end of his political career

PALENQUE, Chiapas (El Universal).— “I can no longer force my poor heart, which has helped me a lot,” said the president Andrés Manuel López Obrador by reiterating that on October 1 he will go to live on his farm where he will not receive anyone.

“The body no longer works well, so I close the cycle; Above all, I have a problem with heart disease because I had a heart attack and I can no longer strain my poor heart, which has helped me a lot,” he said in the company of the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum.

16 days before he leaves the public administration, López Obrador said that he will no longer receive anyone who seeks him for support, and that is why the president-elect will now be there.

“Now I am going to stop, I am going to compensate for that brake that I am going to carry out with an intellectual activity; I want to write about deep Mexico, I want to write about pre-Hispanic Mexico,” and added that he will only dedicate himself to writing.

Before the hundreds of attendees shouted “President, President!”, the federal president assured that he is happy and proud because he is ending his term after having led the transformation movement because he did it together with millions of Mexicans.

“We did it from below, not that it was with alliances with oligarchs with whom they felt they were owners of Mexico, no, the people did it, which is why this is an evidently democratic movement,” he highlighted.

Before, Claudia recalled that López Obrador’s home will be Palenque, and recalled a poem by Rosario Castellanos: “His words and actions have been fair, because they are the size of his feelings.”

Last mass act

López Obrador will make his last major public appearance, tonight when the traditional “shout” is performed to commemorate Independence.

A deployment of 12,830 agents from the Secretariat of Citizen Security will ensure the safety of those attending the celebrations for the Independence of Mexico in the country’s capital, according to the Government of the capital.

The security agents will be supported by 781 vehicles, 39 motorcycles, 12 ambulances, 10 motorcycle ambulances and a helicopter from the General Directorate of Cóndores Air Services, who will carry out security patrols to prevent illegal acts and maintain public order, official sources indicated. .
