Real Madrid’s Antonio Rüdiger has raved about Manchester City’s star striker Erling Haaland. At Inside Scoop the German international looked back on the physically challenging duels with the Norwegian.
Rüdiger said: “I’m an old-school defensive player who likes to fight with strikers like Erling Haaland. This guy is a monster – I don’t know what he eats or what else he does. But wow. Physically, few people can do that keep up with Haaland, like Virgil van Dijk and William Saliba. And I also did my job against him.”
Rüdiger recently met Haaland and Manchester City twice in a row in the Champions League with Real.
In the semi-finals of the 2022/23 season, the English team prevailed on the way to the first triumph in their club’s history thanks to a 4-0 win in the second leg, but Haaland failed to score against Rüdiger.
A year later, Los Blancos and Citizens faced each other in the quarter-finals – and again Rüdiger won the duel with the Norwegian.
