Heating oil: Availability begins on October 15

This price is according to the first estimates and provided that there will be no adverse geopolitical developments.

“The starting price this year will be considerably lower than in the last three years, as there is a normalization in the market internationally, where we see Brent oil from $80 a barrel stabilized near $70 a barrel, which means that all fuels, petrol, motor oil as well as the heating oil that will come in a few days in our daily life for consumption to be 10 to 20% cheaper”, said the president of Attica Petrol Dealers, Nikos Papageorgiou, speaking to ERTNEWS .

He noted that “The expected starting price for heating oil is expected to be at lower levels this year, at levels we had seen before 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic in our country.

If the price remains at 1 euro and 10 minutes or if the proposal of the Panhellenic Federation of Fuel Dealers is accepted by the government, where we requested that the subsidy on the price of oil be included directly in the initial sale price of the product, i.e. horizontally in the price that will the refineries sell to the wholesale companies and to the petrol stations, maybe we will see the price even below 1 euro per liter”.

As he pointed out, “last year the government announced that 276 million euros would be allocated to support households for the supply of heating oil. Of these, approximately 200 million were absorbed by consumers.

And this year we estimate that the amount of subsidy that the financial staff will once again allocate to the citizens for the supply of heating oil will be around that.

We want this amount, together with the money that was not allocated last year, to be included horizontally in the price. This will bring more consumption, thus more revenue to the state coffers due to the collectability of VAT and excise duty.

He clarified that “both last year and the year before the starting price was at 1.40 euros per liter, in urban cities because in the countryside and in the island country we had encountered it at 1.47 and 1.48 euros/liter.

The price of diesel oil has dropped quite a bit, and is expected to drop further. Today the average price nationwide is 1.50 euros/liter,” he said.
