How long will humans reach Mars? Elon Musk said

Elon Musk has announced that the first starship will be sent to Mars within 2 years.

In a post on X (Twitter), the chief executive of SpaceX said that the initial missions to Mars will not have humans present and will be aimed at testing the landing process on the red planet.

It should be noted that the rocket starship developed by SpaceX is considered very important for bringing humans to the moon and Mars.

A starship consists of 2 parts, one is a superheavy booster, which is a large rocket with 33 engines, while the other is a starship spacecraft that sits on top of the booster and detaches from it. The rocket is 120 meters long, weighs 5 million kilograms and will be reusable.

What Elon Musk has now announced is his long-standing goal of putting humans there.

The starship will be launched towards the red planet when both Earth and Mars are closest and the journey will be completed in 9 months. According to Elon Musk, humans will be sent to Mars in 2028 after the initial missions are successful.

He said that if the initial missions are successful, then a manned flight will be launched. He further informed that after this the number of flights will be increased and our aim will be to build a stable city in 20 years.

He said that in order to build a city on Mars, it would be necessary to significantly reduce the cost of rocket launches, which would require a billion dollars to deliver one ton of goods to Mars.

Elon Musk said that the cost would have to be brought down to $100,000 per ton and the technology would have to be improved 10,000 times.

This prediction of the owner of SpaceX is quite surprising because the world’s most powerful rocket starship cannot be considered fully ready yet.

Reaching Mars is Elon Musk’s long-held dream, and in an X-post in December 2023, he said that humans should leave Earth and build a base on the moon and a city on Mars.

In an article written for a journal in August 2022, Elon Musk said that human civilization should be able to travel to other planets.

“If the earth is uninhabitable, we will have to fly to a new home in a space plane,” he said.
