Apple plans 4 new stores in India; iPhones 16 are already manufactured there

According to information obtained by TechCruncha Apple plans to launch four new stores in India soon, and has already started manufacturing all iPhones 16 in the country recently.

According to the report, future Maçã stores will be launched in Bangalore, Pune, Deli (TCN) e Mumbai (which is expected to have its second store) — plans that were confirmed by Apple’s vice president of Retail, Deirdre O’Brien. “We are excited to build our teams as we plan to open more stores in India because we are inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across the country,” she said.

Apple also continues with its plans to diversify iPhone production locations beyond China, having already started production of the current complete line (including Pro models) in the country.

Apple, in a way, is running against time, as current smartphone production in India is around 10-15% — a percentage below expectations in relation to the company’s ambitions.

According to the JP Morgan bank, which made the estimate, the goal of concentrating around 25% of iPhone production in the country next year was even postponed to 2027, demonstrating a slower pace of transition.
