The new turn – expected by many – that this conflict is taking is changing the facts in the region. Throughout the night, the leaders of the Western world were in constant communication in order to take action if necessary in the face of Tehran’s aggression.
“The proximity of our country to the area of hostilities and the need to avoid further escalation cannot leave us unaffected and uninvolved,” a government official stressed to Newsbeast.
In this context, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis requested the emergency convening of the Governmental National Security Council (GNCSC) in order to be informed by the Minister of Defense on the movements and readiness of both the Greek armed forces and the NATO forces in the region.

The efforts being made even now are to prevent the situation from escalating further and to avoid the worst scenario, which would be a generalized war.
Late on Tuesday night, our country aligning itself with the entire Western world and through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs took a stand against the developments. “The Greek government strongly condemns Iran’s attacks against Israel“, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a post on X.

Ready for business
Athens is ready to make available an Air Force C-130 aircraft in order to assist when conditions permit release of Cypriot citizens from Lebanon.
The request was made in a telephone conversation between the Cypriot Minister of Defense Vassilis Palmas and the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias.
Also the frigate “Elli” has been in the area for several 24 hours and if requested will participate in an operation to evacuate Lebanon and foreign nationals. “Elli” participates in a United Nations force.
It is noted that about 3,000 Greek citizens live in Lebanon, but the last time they were asked to leave the country, only 500 said they were willing.
And Cypriot ports and airports have been put on full alert, for the same purpose, if requested.
Immigration alert
Athens is on the alert for the immigration situation and the latest developments in the Middle East and the escalation of the war with Minister of Immigration, Nikos Panagiotopoulos to foreshadow a new crisis with waves of millions of refugees if we reach a generalized conflict.
“Inevitably, some of them will try to enter Europe from our country as well. There, all the strategies go wrong, and we go into a situation of dealing with a crisis”, he noted a few days ago in the parliament, answering a relevant topical question.
Our partners have allocated in the current period 2021-2027 the amount of 1.6 billion for immigration with the minister pointing out: “If the facts change, if we have severe crises, of course we will go and ask for additional funding”. Immigration will occupy today’s KYSEA, as the government prepares plan B, while tomorrow Thursday, the prime minister is expected to visit Evros, sending messages in all directions.
