Israel Launches Ground Operation in South Lebanon

The Israeli Army announced a ground operation in southern Lebanon. This is based on the political decisions of high-ranking Zionists.

“The operation is in accordance with the decision of the political echelon, a few hours ago, the IDF (Israeli army) began a limited, localized and targeted ground attack based on precise intelligence against Hezbollah targets and infrastructure in southern Lebanon,” said an official Israeli military statement, reported by Anadolu , Tuesday (1/10)

These targets were located in villages close to the border and posed a direct threat to Israeli communities in northern Israel.

The military noted that it was operating according to a methodical plan established by the General Staff and Northern Command that IDF soldiers had been training and preparing for in recent months. The statement said the Israeli Air Force and IDF artillery supported ground forces with pinpoint strikes on military targets in the region.

Referring to the operation, the statement added that the ‘Northern Arrows’ operation will continue in accordance with the assessment of the situation and in line with the fighting in Gaza and in other arenas.

The Israeli army announced late Monday that it would establish a closed military zone near the country’s border with Lebanon amid reports of an imminent Israeli ground offensive into southern Lebanon.

According to an Israeli military statement, the announcement came after an assessment of the situation along the Israel-Lebanon border area.

The statement added that the closed military zone includes the settlements of Metula, Misgav Am and Kfar Giladi in northern Israel, and strictly prohibits entry.

In a related development, the Israeli army launched airstrikes against three areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Monday evening, just minutes after issuing an urgent evacuation order for those areas in the Lebanese capital.

Earlier, Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee posted an urgent warning to residents of the southern suburbs of Beirut” on his account on the X platform, sharing a map of the buildings where he urged residents and those in the vicinity of the buildings to evacuate.

The evacuation order targeted the Laylaki, Haret Hreik and Burj al-Barajneh neighborhoods. Adraee claimed the buildings were close to Hezbollah-affiliated facilities and locations, adding that the Israeli army would act harshly against them.

Since Sept. 23, Israel has launched massive airstrikes against what it calls Hezbollah targets across Lebanon, killing more than 960 people and wounding more than 2,770 others, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.

Several Hezbollah leaders were killed in the attack, including the group’s Secretary General, Hassan Nasrallah.

Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in a cross-border war since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza, which has killed nearly 41,600 people, most of them women and children, following cross-border attacks by the Palestinian group Hamas last October.

The international community has warned that an Israeli attack on Lebanon could escalate the Gaza conflict into a wider regional war. (I-2)
