Conflict in Israel affects the Colombian economy

Both Brent, a reference barrel in Europe and for our country, like WTI, benchmark in the United States, are trading with increases of up to 4%, the Iran’s missile attack on Israel Despite the thousands of kilometers away from Colombia, it would have an impact on our economy, especially the oil industry.

Carlos Jiménez Barragán, teacher and international analyst, explained that: “It has as a consequence an increase in fuel prices, which translates into, let’s say, an increase in inflation, and inflation at this moment is the main objective that the monetary authorities in the world are defeating.”

Yes ok, Colombia has a policy of no oil extraction, our reserves would have a good opportunity in the international market.

Let us hope that we have clarity from the entities that direct our energy policy, How to understand this situation that is occurring in the Middle East, and what implications it has for our reserves, but also for the market opportunities that arise from there”: Barragán commented.

This rebound in oil prices comes after the President of the United States, Joe Biden, acknowledged this Thursday that a possible attack is on the table from Israel to Iranian oil facilities.
