Plot
Arthur Fleck is in prison for having committed five murders (actually six, but the police are not aware of one), including the most sensational one on live national TV, and is awaiting the trial which will decide his punishment: his lawyer wants to ask for the mitigating circumstance of insanity for him that recognizes the dual personality Arthur/Joker, the deputy district attorney Harvey Dent instead wants his head, invoking the death penalty. His jailers (and tormentors) mock and humiliate him, but one of them allows him (as a mockery) to join a choir of internees which includes Lee, the young woman with whom Arthur falls in love instantly, seeing in her his first opportunity to be truly seen and welcomed: but is Lee in love with him or with the Joker?
