The president of the transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma, takes part in the 19th Summit of the Francophonie, the inaugural session of which is being held this Friday, at the Cité internationale de la langue française in Villers-Cotterêts. The inaugural session will be marked by an official welcome from the heads of state and government of the 88 member countries, by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, accompanied by the Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), the Rwandan Louise Mushikiwabo. This summit, scheduled for October 4 to 5, the first on French soil in 33 years and the first in which Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma is participating since he took power 13 months ago, is on the theme, “Create, innovate and undertake in French for youth employment”.
The first day of work of the Paris Summit will be structured around two main thematic sequences. The first titled “The challenges of French-speaking citizens in the digital age” will open reflection on the contemporary issues facing the French-speaking community, before a second artistic sequence which will highlight the cultural richness of the French-speaking world.
The second day, Saturday October 5, Grand Palais de Paris will be marked by round tables and a plenary which will see the unprecedented participation of young creators, innovators and entrepreneurs from civil society. High point of the Summit, the closed session of heads of state and government, focused on the theme “For a renewed multilateralism”followed by a public plenary session, where the results of the roundtables will be presented by the moderators.
By participating in the Paris Summit, the president of the transition reaffirms Gabon’s anchoring in the French-speaking sphere, with the desire to reposition Gabon as an essential regional player on the economic, political, diplomatic, geostrategic and cultural levels.
In Paris, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma should also continue his advocacy in favor of consolidating ties with Gabon’s bilateral and multilateral economic partners, based on respect for the political transition timetable and the convincing successes of the project relating to restoring institutions and improving the business environment in the country.
An advocacy that bore fruit in all business forums and meetings, notably at the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America, where the president of the transition stayed as part of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York, before heading to the French capital.
