Arsjad-Anindya Agree to Hold National Chamber of Commerce and Industry after the Inauguration of the Elected President

The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) held a consolidation meeting with 238 Extraordinary Members (ALB) on Thursday (3/10) to strengthen coordination and preparations for the IX Kadin National Conference (Munas).

The consolidation meeting confirmed the commitment of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Management Board to implement the agreement between the General Chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Arsjad Rasjid and the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce Advisory Council Anindya Bakrie, with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, in a meeting held on Friday 27 September 2024.

Deputy General Chairperson for Associations and Associations of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Wisnu W Pettalolo, explained that an agreement had been made between Arsjad Rasjid, Anindya Bakrie, and Bahlil Lahadalia to find a solution to the internal dynamics of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Among other things, the two parties have agreed to hold a national deliberation (Munas). This agreement was also made to maintain the dignity of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in accordance with Law No. 1/1987 concerning the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 18/2022 concerning Amendments to the AD/ART of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“In the midst of the internal dynamics currently taking place, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to implementing the agreement that was jointly signed on September 27 2024. This agreement aims to maintain organizational integrity and ensure the sustainability of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce as a strategic partner of the government in the economy,” said Vishnu.

According to the agreement, the solution to the dynamics at Kadin is to hold a National Conference after the inauguration of the elected president, Prabowo Subianto. The time and place for the National Conference will be adjusted to government directions.

“So, according to the agreement, the change in the management of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will occur after the implementation and decision of the National Conference,” added Vishnu.

According to him, Kadin at the central and regional levels will continue to focus on being a strategic partner for the government in encouraging inclusive, sustainable and fair economic growth for all Indonesian people.

“With solidity and togetherness, Kadin is ready to work together to face future economic challenges in order to realize the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045,” said Vishnu.

He said that the consolidation meeting was to ensure that all Extraordinary Members were ready to participate and could use their voting rights in the National Conference. According to him, the meeting was held so that all members could become active members and participate as National Conference participants through the National Conference convention process which had been regulated in accordance with the provisions of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s AD/ART and Presidential Decree No. 18/2022.

Thus, all Extraordinary Members will go through registration, verification and convention mechanisms as part of a process that is transparent and in accordance with the rules.

Currently, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is the only national business organization that houses 238 Extraordinary Members (ALB) who are representatives of associations, associations, associations and ties. In the implementation of National Conference IX later, the number of ALB participants holding the convention will be represented by 30 ALB from 15 industrial and service sector clusters.

“When the president-elect determines the time for the National Conference, all processes and preparations for the ALB are fully ready. This ensures that the National Conference will go according to plan and comply with the provisions applicable within the organization,” said Vishnu.

General Chair of the Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI) Akbar Djohan said that all ALBs had coordinated well and were ready to actively participate in the upcoming National Conference.

“The convention process which will be carried out inclusively invites all parties to organize a National Conference that is legal and in accordance with organizational regulations based on Presidential Decree No. 18/2022,” said Akbar.

In line with Akbar, General Chair of the Indonesian Global Brand Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Apregindo) Handaka Santosa expressed the readiness of the Extraordinary Members to be actively involved in the upcoming National Conference.

“We want to be involved for the progress of the national business world through the upcoming National Conference IX of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry which is in accordance with AD/ART and Presidential Decree No. 18/2022,” said Handaka. (E-2)
