Most people define autumn as the months of September, October and November in Norway.

A meteorologist would say that it is autumn when the average daily temperature remains below 10 degrees. This means that autumn starts at different times in the north and south of the country.

The astronomical definition of autumn is that autumn lasts from the autumnal equinox to the winter solstice. The autumnal equinox was this year on September 22.

In the southern hemisphere, autumn is in March, April and May.

Autumn is the time when we harvest vegetables, grains and fruit.

Lower solar heat results in rapidly decreasing mean temperatures over the continents, while cooling over the oceans is slower.

The relative humidity of the air is often high, and it is easy for fog and fog clouds to form over land.

Sea and coastal areas experience increasing low-pressure activity with a lot of wind and precipitation, while the build-up of the continental winter high pressures gives calmer weather with less precipitation over the continents.

Perhaps some of this information will help in today’s quiz. If not, you might have learned something new after all.
