Cosenza, the director Costabile and the actor Di Leva present “Familia” – News Online

“The film is taken from the novel “It won’t always be like this” by Luigi Celeste, a news story that actually happened in 2008 that the author wrote when he was in prison. The objective of the director from Cosenza was to “tell the story of violence, especially psychological violence; show the deep wounds that mark childhood, forever.” Costabile has fully succeeded in his aim and the film with a strong social impact, distributed by Medusa Film and released in cinemas on 2 October, has already impressed its audience.

Familia tells the story of Luigi Celeste (played by Francesco Gheghi), a twenty-year-old who lives with his mother Licia (Barbara Ronchi) and his brother Alessandro (Marco Cicalese), the three of whom are united by a deep bond. It’s been almost ten years since any of them have seen Franco (played by Francesco Di Leva), their partner and father, who has made the childhood of the two boys and Licia’s youth a memory of fear and abuse. Luigi lives on the streets and, in search of a sense of belonging and identity, joins a far-right group where he still breathes anger and oppression. One day Franco returns, he wants his children back, he wants his family back, but he is a man who poisons everything he touches and makes those he loves prisoners of his shadow. That of Luigi and his family is a story that reaches the bottom of the abyss to complete a journey of rebirth, whatever the cost.

The evening event is organized by Giuseppe Citrigno, president of Anec Calabria and administrator of the CGC Cinematographic Halls. At the end of the screening, a debate on the film will be held, moderated by the journalist Barbara Marchio, together with Francesco Costabile and Francesco Di Leva. Medusa Film’s distribution director, Paolo Orlando, will also be present.

Reservations for the screening on Monday 7 October are open on the website www.cosenzacinema.it. Partner of the evening “Gruppo Chiappetta Partner Automotive” and “Scintille”
