The Palestinian militant group, Hamas, said an Israeli strike killed its leader in Lebanon on Monday (30/9), while another Palestinian militant group said three of its leaders were also killed in the attack in Beirut, the first attack carried out by Israel within the city’s borders.

Hamas said its leader in Lebanon, Fateh Sherif Abu el-Amin was killed, along with his wife, son and daughter, in an attack targeting their home in a Palestinian refugee camp in the southern city of Tyre in the early hours of Monday (30/9).

As Israel steps up attacks on Iran’s allies in the region, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) reported that three of its leaders were killed in an attack targeting Beirut’s Kola district.

Israel’s increasing attacks on the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen have many concerned that the conflict in the Middle East could escalate, and could even drag in Iran and the United States, Israel’s main ally.

The PFLP is another militant group that took part in the war against Israel.

Israel on Sunday (29/9) carried out air strikes against the Houthi militia in Yemen and dozens of Hezbollah targets across Lebanon after attacks last week killed Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. (I-2)
