World Cup: Another upset, Netherlands beat South Africa

There was another upset in the ongoing Cricket World Cup in India on Tuesday when the Netherlands team defeated the tournament favorites South Africa.

The match played in Dharamsala was reduced to just 43 overs due to rain.

Batting first in the rain-affected match, Netherlands set a target of 246 runs to South Africa thanks to captain Scott Edwards’ unbeaten innings of 78 runs in the allotted overs.

In reply, the entire South African team could score only 207 runs in the 43rd over.

Earlier, the Netherlands has also been knocked out of the ICCT Twenty20 World Cup by defeating South Africa in an important match.

South Africa is being declared as the favorite from their first match in this World Cup, but in this match first the bowling and later the batting failed miserably.

If we look at the bowling of Netherlands, after making Pakistan difficult in their first match, they also put South Africa under pressure from the first over in this match.

This can be inferred from the fact that none of the batsmen who scored more than four hundred runs in their first match in the World Cup managed to score even a half-century against the Netherlands.

Captain Scott Edwards was declared the best player of the match for his innings of 78 runs not out in the match.

Earlier on Sunday, the first major upset of this World Cup happened when Afghanistan defeated England.

After the victory of Afghanistan and now the Netherlands, this World Cup has become more interesting. On the points table, India and New Zealand teams are at the first and second position respectively with six and six points after winning their first three matches.

South Africa has won two out of three matches and is at the third position due to better run rate and Pakistan is also at the fourth position after winning two matches.
