Student Housing Benefit: Today is the last day for applications

The platform for submitting an application to the stegastiko.minedu.gov.gr application for the grant of the student housing allowance, by university students and trainees of Public IEK.

The amount of the allowance amounts to 1,500 eurosthat is, it is increased by 500 euros from last year, while in case of cohabitation the housing allowance increases even more and becomes 2,000 euros.

A condition for submitting the application is the student for whom the allowance is granted:

• to be a Greek national or a national of another European Union country,
• to be the holder of a valid academic identity card, to be the holder of a VAT number.

The online application for the granting of a housing allowance is submitted by the beneficiary of the allowance, i.e. the person who is considered to be responsible for the student.

In the case of spouses who have submitted separate tax returns, the online application for housing benefit must be submitted by the only parent entitled to the benefit, who in his tax return must have declared all of his dependent children (dependent members) so that the financial criterion is correctly formulated.

In the case of divorced or estranged spouses, the beneficiary of the allowance is the parent on whom the student is responsible and shows him as a protected member.

Exceptionally, the beneficiary will be the student himself if:

a) is an orphan from both parents or

b) his parents are foreign residents or

c) is over twenty-five (25) years old, i.e. born before 12/31/1996) or

d) is liable to submit a tax return and is not considered a dependent member, in accordance with article 11 of Law 4172/2013 (A’ 167).

To access the application of the housing benefit, certification is required through the TAXIS system of the general secretariat of information systems.

Before proceeding to create an application for the Academic year 2022-2023, you must first have submitted a tax return for the tax year 2022. Otherwise, your application will be automatically rejected upon submission.
