Oleksandr Kosenko’s wards will fight for the “bronze” of the World Cup.
National futsal team of Ukraine was defeated by the national team Brazil in the semi-finals Futsal World Cup 2024. The match in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) ended with a score of 2:3.
At the start of the match, the rivals exchanged shots on the goal frame. In the middle of the first half, the Brazilians seemed to open the scoring, but the goal was canceled after watching the video replay (VAR) due to the fact that the goalkeeper of the Ukrainian national team Oleksandr Sukhov managed to press the ball to the floor, and only then did the Brazilian knock the ball out of his hand and scored into an empty net. So the referee recorded a violation of the rules.
At the end of the first half, the captain of the Ukrainian national team, Petro Shoturma, unfortunately fell in a fight with an opponent and was seriously injured, as a result of which he was forced to leave the court on a stretcher.
In the 18th minute, the Ukrainians opened the scoring in the match against Brazil – Ihor Chernyavskyi moved from the left wing to the center and hit a strong shot into the near corner. Thus, the teams went to the break with a minimal advantage of the “blue-yellow”.
Immediately after the break, the Brazilians fought back – in the 21st minute, Diego made a dash on the left flank and shot, and Rostislav Semenchenko cut the ball into his own goal.
And in the 22nd minute, Oleksandr Kosenko’s wards conceded for the second time – after a defender’s mistake, Sukhov parried Diego’s shot from close range, but he managed to finish the ball into an empty net.
In the 29th minute, Ukraine equalized the score – our futsal players intercepted the ball and played a wonderful combination, which Ihor Korsun successfully completed in the fall.
In the 33rd minute, the Ukrainians created another super moment – Yevhenii Zhuk hit the near post from the right wing, and Mykhailo Zvarych hit the other post on the finish.
In the 36th minute, Brazil scored the third goal – for Ukraine’s sixth foul, the referee awarded a 10-meter penalty, which Diego converted. This goal turned out to be decisive.

In the final of the Futsal World Cup 2024, Brazil will play against the winner of the match between Argentina and France, which is scheduled for October 3.
The final with the participation of the Brazilians will take place on October 6 in Tashkent. On the same day, Ukraine will hold a match for “bronze”.
The national team of Ukraine played in the semi-finals of the World Futsal Championship for the second time in history and the first time in 28 years. The first such thing happened at the debut tournament for our team in 1996, where it took fourth place.
The national team of Ukraine is taking part in the Futsal World Cup for the sixth time in history. At the World Cups of 2004 and 2008, the Ukrainian national team stopped in the 2nd group round (top-8), in 2012 it reached the quarterfinals, and in 2016 it was eliminated in the 1/8 finals.
