THE MINISTRY of Transportation (Kemenhub) appreciates the results of the national survey of public perceptions of national transportation services conducted by the Indicator Survey Institute. The survey results stated that 72.3% of the public were satisfied with the Ministry of Transportation’s performance in providing public transportation infrastructure between districts/cities and between provinces. The survey was conducted in the period 30 August-6 September 2024, with 1,450 respondents and an error tolerance of 2.8% at a 95% confidence level.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati, said that the results of the Indicator survey will be used as material for evaluation and improvement for future transportation services.
“This is something that is very useful for the Ministry of Transportation as the person responsible for the transportation sector in Indonesia. We welcome it positively and will use the results of this survey as material for future improvements,” he said in an official statement, Wednesday (2/10).

The survey also noted that 70% of the public were satisfied with the Ministry of Transportation’s performance in expediting the delivery of goods and providing transportation facilities between districts/cities and between provinces.
The Indicator Survey also shows that the majority of the public, or as much as 65%, assess the condition of public transportation in the country as good or very good, with the level of public satisfaction with each public transportation being above 80%.
The highest satisfaction was with the light rail transit (LRT) transportation mode at 97.4%, followed by airplanes with 95.8%, mass rapid transit (MRT) with 94.9% satisfaction, commuter line trains with 94 .7%, trains 90.9%, inter-city inter-provincial buses (AKAP) 88.5%, and ships 87.8%.

In total, the Public Transportation User Satisfaction Index is 3.962 or in the high category. The highest index in the aspect of reliability or public transportation helps solve citizens’ problems with an index score of 4.193. Meanwhile, the lowest is the fleet number aspect with a score of 3,704. Adita added that in the last 10 years, the government has built no less than 521 pieces of infrastructure.
“This is quite evenly distributed on land, sea, air and rail. The orientation, according to the president’s direction, is Indonesia centric. We are not only developing in Java, but also reaching disadvantaged, remote, outermost and border areas (3TP),” explained Adita.
The survey results also show that people agree to strongly agree or 92.6% that public transportation makes it easier for people to move from one place to another. Then the public agreed to strongly agree with a level of 84.2% that public transportation improves the community’s economy. Then the public agrees to strongly agrees with an index of 74.3% that public transportation can create equitable development.
Transportation observer Djoko Setidjowarno said that transportation infrastructure development in the last 10 years has been quite even. However, collaboration between the central government and regional governments is still needed stakeholder related to improving transportation services, especially in 3TP (underdeveloped, remote, outermost and border) areas.
“In the future, the presence of the government, both central and regional, is needed, especially to provide pioneering services, not only in terms of transportation, but including for the construction of road networks,” he added. (S-1)
