FARDC and UPDF develop new strategies to hunt down ADF

The Armed Forces of the DRC (FARDC) and the Uganda Defense Forces (UPDF) have been meeting since Monday, September 30, at Fort Portal (Uganda) to define new strategies for tracking ADF rebels, active in the North- Kivu and Ituri.

These two armies are also evaluating joint military operations with a view to strengthening security in this region.

This meeting, chaired by General Kayanja Muhanga, Commander of the UPDF who welcomed the commitment of the two countries to eradicate the ADF, a threat which disrupts regional security.

According to military sources, Generals Bruno Mandevu, the commander of Sokola 1 Grand Nord operations, and Nyembo Abdallah, commander of the operational sector in Ituri, represent the FARDC.

They presented a detailed account of the joint operations carried out against the ADF, highlighting notable progress, particularly east of national road number 4, where coalition forces succeeded in weakening the terrorists’ positions.

However, despite these advances, the ADF is seeking to regroup in the West, near the Asefu-Ituri river, as well as in the North of Lolwa and Bahaha.

A group of these rebels was also reported in the Bapere sector, in Lubero territory.

The discussions, which continue until Wednesday, should lead to concrete decisions aimed at intensifying efforts to wipe out this armed group, military sources confirm.
