Hoisting the seven-star Venezuelan flag will be a “violation” of the Constitution

He president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguezwarned this Tuesday, October 1st, during an ordinary session, that If anyone flies the seven-star Venezuelan flag “they are violating the Constitution”.

“We have the obligation to care for, preserve and defend our territory, our sovereignty, our moral values, our cultural values, our symbols,” Rodríguez pointed out when bringing up the issue of the seven-star flag.

Furthermore, he pointed out that if any citizen calls for “foreign and mercenary military incursions” against the national territory, they are violating article 130 of the Constitution.

Article 130 of the Magna Carta reads: “Venezuelans have the duty to honor and defend the country, its symbols and cultural values, safeguard and protect sovereignty, nationalityterritorial integrity, self-determination and the interests of the Nation.”

He referred to a campaign to collect money by “mercenaries who intend to invade Venezuela to kill, burn, destroy, plant bombs,” in reference to the former commissioner Iván Simonovis and the leader of Black Water, Erik Prince, promoters of the “Now Venezuela” movement.

There cannot be a Venezuelan who calls for invasions of the country by foreign countries,” he said.

“Whoever has acted, favoring what a representative of a government of a foreign country demanded, is violating article 130 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” he added.
