Farmatodo reaffirms its commitment to the health and well-being of Venezuelan communities through its programs and services

Promoting Heart Health: Farmatodo’s Initiatives for World Heart Day

Within the framework of World Heart Day, Farmatodo reaffirms its commitment to the well-being and health of the Venezuelan community, aligning itself with the World Heart Federation campaign. This year, the campaign focuses on empowering audiences to generate awareness, commitment, and behavioral change around heart disease. These conditions represent one of the main causes of mortality worldwide.

The Importance of Cardiovascular Health

According to Dr. Rafael Hernández, Fellow for Venezuela of the International Society of Hypertension: “Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in most countries, and Venezuela is no exception. In fact, coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular accidents rank as the first and third causes of death, respectively. Against this backdrop, initiatives such as Farmatodo’s “We Take Care of Your Health” program take on special relevance, demonstrating that prevention is the best medicine.”

Farmatodo’s “We Take Care of Your Health” Program

Since 2015, Farmatodo has developed the “We Take Care of Your Health” program, focused on the care and prevention of chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, which are two of the greatest cardiovascular risk factors. To date, this program has impacted more than 190,000 registered patients, carrying out over 10,000 sessions that have benefited 240,000 people in the last year. These figures demonstrate Farmatodo’s commitment to the well-being of its patients and communities, highlighting its work in preventive education.

“At Farmatodo, we understand the importance of having tools for the prevention and awareness of heart diseases. That’s why our ‘We Take Care of Your Health’ program offers services such as blood pressure measurement, advice, and follow-up for free treatment with healthcare pharmacists, and continuing education on hypertension and diabetes,” commented Dr. Mónica Guzmán, Pharmacist and Program Director.

Wellness Basket Initiative

Another crucial component of Farmatodo’s mission is the “Wellness Basket“, an initiative that began in 2021 in alliance with national laboratories, to offer essential medicines at solidarity prices, lower than REF 1. Through this initiative, more than 30,000 people benefit weekly by acquiring high-quality medications, focusing on treatments for chronic diseases like hypertension and diabetes. The “Wellness Basket” can be consulted directly on the last page of the insert in the pharmacy, as well as on the Farmatodo website and mobile app.

Key Benefits of the Wellness Basket

  • Accessible pricing for essential medications.
  • Focus on chronic disease management.
  • Weekly benefits to thousands of patients.
  • Continuous pharmaceutical advice for improved healthcare.

To date, over 400 products have been part of the Wellness Basket, which complements Farmatodo’s actions in promoting comprehensive health and community well-being. “Our goal is to facilitate access to medications prescribed by healthcare providers while providing continuous pharmaceutical advice to educate the population about the importance of taking care of their cardiovascular health,” added Dr. Guzmán.

World Heart Day reminds us that well-being begins with small changes in our daily habits. At Farmatodo, our commitment is to continue offering programs and services that empower people and provide them with the necessary tools to take care of their health,” said Dr. Guzmán of Farmatodo.
