The handball players of SC DHfK Leipzig are in the round of 16. In the second round match against TuS N-Lübbecke, the Leipzig team confidently won 32:23. In the MERKUR Arena Lübbecke, the Saxons were already clearly leading 14:6 at the break. Goalkeeper Kristian Saeveras in particular underlined the difference in class between the two teams. With a sensational rate of 64% of balls saved, the Norwegian was hard to overcome in the first 30 minutes. After the break, the DHfK men conceded significantly more goals, but they also took their foot off the gas a little and routinely played down the away win.
The physical culture teams were ahead from the first minute. Matej Klíma made it 0-1 and Moritz Preuss made it 0-2. After twelve minutes, Lukas Binder increased the score to 2:5. The second division team from Nettelstedt hardly found any means against Leipzig’s 5-1 defense – and when they did, Kristian Saeveras was there. The Leipzig goalkeeper parried throw after throw. The Norwegian national goalkeeper only had to reach behind himself six times in the first half. The SC DHfK was able to increase its lead and go into the break with a clear 8-goal lead.
Even after the restart, the DHfK handball players were still clearly superior. After 43 minutes the gap had increased to ten goals (11:21). Since the argument had long since been decided, not much happened in the final quarter of an hour. Leipzig no longer played with full consistency, so TuS N-Lübbecke was still able to score one or two goals. Captain Lukas Binder was the top scorer of the day with nine goals. In the end, the Saxons deservedly won 23:32 and are in the round of 16 of the DHB Cup. The Green-Whites will be watching the draw for the next round on Thursday evening with great interest and of course hoping for a home game.
