Hattingen On October 16, 2024 at 2 p.m., the psychiatry in Niederwenigern will open its doors for an open day. Visitors can take the opportunity to gain an insight into the facility’s diverse therapy offerings and learn more about the work of the therapists, nurses and doctors.

“It was and is important to me to explain mental illnesses and their treatment. With our open day, I would like to use this opportunity to have a personal conversation with the citizens of the city of Hattingen and the surrounding cities. We look forward to seeing you!” explains PD Dr. Bernhard Kis, chief physician at the Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at the St. Elisabeth Hospital Niederwenigern, took the initiative for the day of action.

Information about therapies

Dedicated employees will be available on this day to provide information on various forms of therapy, including music, art and occupational therapy and much more. These methods play a crucial role in the holistic treatment of mental illnesses. At the same time, visitors receive tips and tricks that make everyday life easier and how inner balance and well-being can be increased. The main focuses (treatment of young adults, psychotherapeutic treatment, modern brain stimulation procedures for depression) of the clinic, the day clinic and the outpatient clinic are also presented.

The medical team, including the chief physician Priv.-Doz. Dr. Bernhard Kis, will be on site on this day to answer questions and have personal discussions about treatment options and the clinic’s focus.

So that the children also get their money’s worth, the St. Elisabeth Hospital has set up a small children’s island. Here the little ones can do crafts and play – a perfect place for creative development.
