Burgenland indie folk rocker Reino Glutberg is back from vacation with a new song.
Grutberg said of this passage:
“A thoughtful song about the joys and struggles that make the holidays a unique experience. From endless traffic jams to that long-awaited beach stay where you can finally relax and unwind, everything is celebrated. After countless cocktails in your blood and food in your stomach, you’ll be thinking about the available time you might not have had. It’s an anthem for all those decadent vacationers who can’t relax despite staying in an all-inclusive luxury hotel.
Musically, Gruterberg said of the new sound:
“Electric guitars and vocals are mixed with weird effects and drum machine beats to create a LoFi-like sound, somewhat reminiscent of the likes of MacDemarco or Kurt Vile, which is definitely new in Reino Glutberg’s tracks. It’s For once, the song no longer has a bluesy stomp rhythm, but a bossa nova-esque groove with digital bongos.
Musically, I think there’s a sense of further development: new dreamy, mellow chords and effects that put you in a festive mood.
The melody of the song stretches out, like tanned legs on the railing of a hotel balcony, stretching into the sunset light.
Gruterberg actually pulled off the vacation perfectly and nailed the song’s travel theme through the journey in the song’s sections. The song starts on a high note to grab the listener’s attention, then returns to the sung walk, and continues to “I made time during the holidays to do this.” – Epilogue.
After all, not all holidays are the same, and not all songs (structures) are the same.
As a song itself, it probably could have been written with a better chorus.
In the end, the only question left is: is this the same holiday?
