With the decision no. 1531/1.8.2023 of the Deputy Minister of Rural Development available in the Region of Western Greece an additional 5,632,500 million euros in Sub-Measure 6.1 “Establishment of Young Farmers” of the PAA 2014–2020 during the transition period 2021 and 2022, resulting in the inclusion in the program of all the runners-up of the relevant invitation of 2021.
Specifically an additional 158 new farmers join the program with a maximum amount of support the amount of 40,000 euros. This is an extremely important development that provides substantial support and impetus to young people in the primary sector. At the same time, it is the culmination of the continuous interventions and efforts of the Region in the direction of securing the additional funds that come to cover the great demand for the program.
As the Regional Governor emphasizes in his statement Nektarios Farmakis “with seriousness and dedication we are implementing the rural development program utilizing every available resource. The “Young Farmers” program is the crowning glory of the effort to reconstruct the rural area, and in this context we persistently claimed from the first moment additional resources to satisfy the relevant requests. We achieved this by working quietly and methodically, we are happy for this development and ready to claim more especially for the young farmers who choose to live and create in the countryside”.
For his part, the Authorized Advisor / Assistant Regional Governor of Western Greece for Rural Development Panagiotis Sakellaropoulos states: “It is a decision and development that vindicates our continuous efforts for the inclusion of all young farmers runners-up. Our aim is for new farmers who join to receive the first installment as soon as possible. Our services are ready and in cooperation with the Ministry of Rural Development so that we can jointly complete the necessary administrative procedures”.
