Egyptian Minister of Electricity: Collecting 102 billion pounds from electricity thefts in 45 days

Esmat’s statements came during an Egyptian government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa and attended by Ministers of Finance Ahmed Kajok and Minister of Oil Karim Badawi.

The meeting confirmed that the Egyptian government was able to secure the funding required to provide the necessary needs for petroleum materials, to ensure the availability of electricity service to various sectors in the country despite the geopolitical challenges.

Ismat said during a government meeting that the proceeds from these electricity dues came after issuing violations and imposing fines to control commercial losses represented by electricity theft.

He pointed out the government’s intention to expand the installation of more code meters for various establishments, which contribute significantly to reducing commercial waste.

The Egyptian Minister of Electricity revealed that many meetings were held with a Saudi work team to speed up the completion of the electrical connection between the two countries.

The Egyptian Minister of Electricity reviewed the results of his recent visit to the Russian capital, Moscow, to participate in the meetings of the energy ministers of the BRICS countries, explaining that the visit included holding many meetings and meetings with officials from the Russian side.

Esmat explained that he followed up with Rosatom officials on developments in the implementation of the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project, which comes within the framework of Egypt’s peaceful nuclear program to generate electricity.
