The Saudi government has decided that the announced laws for labor reforms will be issued soon.

The Saudi government’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development will soon issue executive rules for historic labor reforms. These reforms were announced by the ministry recently.

According to Saudi media, Deputy Minister of Development and Maintenance of Work Environment in the Kingdom Satam Al Harbi said that this initiative is a good step towards improving the labor market.

This is a continuation of the earlier efforts made by the Ministry to keep pace with the pace of development in the Kingdom.

He said this while addressing an online workshop organized by the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. The Chamber was represented by the Human Resources and Labor Market Committee.

The ministry introduced labor reforms last month on November 4 that revamped or reformed the 70-year-old system of sponsorship, a measure that expands job opportunities while including visas for returning from Saudi Arabia without the employer’s consent (re-entry visas). ) regulates the exit from the kingdom and the issuance of the final exit i.e. the exodus.

It applies to all types of foreign workers except for five categories, which include private drivers, housekeepers, domestic workers, private sector shepherds, financiers or farmers.

Satam al-Harbi added that the initiative of labor reforms is an attempt to increase the attractiveness of the labor market. For its preparation, the Ministry has utilized international experiences.

The Ministry discussed in detail various aspects of the reforms and asked 700 employers to submit their views and held meetings with them to further improve the contractual relationship between employers and employees and to protect the rights of the parties to the contract. may be possible

Satam Al Harbi said that these reforms will come into effect in private sector institutions from March 2021. This initiative is expected to have a positive economic impact in the development of the labor market and will also play a role in achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
