The two most recent defeats were at least a little narrower: After Delmenhorster FC had only won one of 16 matches in the first two state league games, the badminton players won at least two or three wins this time. Overall, Frank Eilers and Co. still lost and are therefore in a relegation zone.
First, the Delmestädter met Post SV Leer and were ultimately a bit away from the first point at 2:6, even if it wasn’t completely out of reach. The doubles with Frank Eilers and Torben Wachholz as well as Emily Männel in the singles ensured the two victories. The doubles prevailed in three hard-fought sets against Stephan Mohwinkel and Alexander Schlegel with 18:21, 21:15 and 21:17. Männel also needed three passes. She won sets one and three with 21:18 and 21:16 and lost the second with 6:21.
Hardly any chances in the individual
Simon Wepner and Alena Schneider came close to a win in the mixed doubles, having to admit defeat to Marco Zingel and Sandra Luiking with 19:21, 21:15 and 18:21. In the men’s doubles, Julius Dreßen and Wepner balanced the match against Christoph Runde and Zingel, but lost both rounds 19:21. The women’s doubles Männel/Schneider as well as Dreßen, Wachholz and Eilers in the singles all lost more or less clearly in two rounds.
The 3:5 against TV Metjendorf II initially reads as close, but the DFC was really far from a draw. Although the Delmenhorst team won three doubles matches, the other five games were all clearly lost 0-2. In the singles, none of the four DFC players had a chance of winning, most sets ended clearly.
The three successes came from Männel/Schneider with 21:18, 14:21, 21:17 against Kyra Abeln and Diajeng Atmojo, Wepner/Dreßen with 21:12, 21:12 against Matthias Tschöpe and Clemens Franzmann and Eilers/Schneider with 21 :10, 21:13 against Franzmann/Atmojo. It was also reasonably close in the men’s doubles, in which Eilers/Wachholz ultimately lost by a clear margin of 17:21, 15:21.
