The Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro emphasize AI and night photography

Since Xiaomi sealed its alliance with Leica a little over two years ago, the company has launched some of the best photography phones in recent times. Models as powerful as the Xiaomi 13 Pro or, especially, the 14 Ultra demonstrate the firm’s firm commitment to offering the best photographic features on its phones.

A commitment that is not limited only to the high-end, good proof of this is the recently presented Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro, which continue to invest heavily in photography with the help of Leica but at a somewhat more moderate price.

Xiaomi 14T 14T Pro

Los leitmotivs of this new Xiaomi series are artificial intelligence and night photography. According to the firm, the phones’ powerful processing capacity combined with the AI LM computing platform, based on FusionLM. They promise sharp, noise-free images with bright colors even when light is scarce.

Likewise, the PortraitLM algorithms come to improve in this case the Portrait Master mode, which allows you to alternate between several focal lengths emulating the bokeh of some classic Leica lenses.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro comes armed with a triple camera module. The main camera has a large 50 MP Light Fusion 900 sensor with a size of 1/1.3 inch, all accompanied by a 23 mm Leica Summilux lens with f1.6 brightness. This sensor features dual native ISO and promises a dynamic range of more than 13 stops.

In the telephoto lens we also have a 50 MP sensor accompanied by a 60 mm with f2.0 brightness, while the 15 mm and f2.2 ultra-angle lens is made up of a 12 MP sensor. In these cases the size of the captor is not specified.

Xiaomi says in its press release that with these three cameras the 14T Pro can cover five focal lengths ranging from 15 to 120 mm.

The Xiaomi 14T also has three cameras. The main one in this case has a 50 MP sensor, the Sony IMX906, the size of which is not specified, accompanied by a Leica Summilux 23 mm f1.7 lens.

The trio of cameras is completed with a 50mm f1.9 telephoto lens with a 50MP sensor and, apparently, the same ultra-wide angle lens as the 14T Pro.

In addition to taking photos, the new Xiaomi 14T can also record video. A new movie mode allows you to obtain sequences with an aspect ratio of 2.39:1, with blurred backgrounds and smooth transitions between different focus points. We also have a “Director” mode that offers advanced controls with a more professional interface.

Aside from the cameras, both phones come with a 6.67-inch AMOLED CrystalRed Display with a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels, 144 Hz refresh rate, 4000 nits of maximum brightness (in HDR) and DCI-P3 color coverage.

The Xiaomi 13T Pro also stands out for being the first in the T series to have wireless charging, in this case 50W. Both models have a 5000 mAh battery, with 120W fast charging in the case of 14T Pro and 67W in the case of the 14T.

Xiaomi MIX Flip

Along with the 14T Xiaomi has also presented the MIX Flip, a new folding clamshell phone whose cameras are also signed by Leica. In this case it is a dual camera module: a 50 MP and 1/55 inch main sensor accompanied by a stabilized 23 mm f1.7, and a 47 mm f2.0 tele that comes with a 50 MP and 1/2.88 inch.

The Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro will be available now from 650 and 800 euros respectively. The Xiaomi MIX Flip, for its part, can be purchased for 1,300 euros.
