New Tosha Khana Reference
So far three references have been filed against Imran Khan and two against Bushra Bibi in the case of Tosha Khan.
NAB had filed a new Tosha Khana reference against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in July this year after the trial in Tosha Khana Reference One, which is related to the illegal possession and sale of 10 valuable gifts including seven watches.

First Tosha Khana Reference
It was alleged in the Tosha Khana case that as Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi received 108 gifts from foreign leaders, of which they kept 58 gifts worth Rs 14 crore.
It was alleged in the reference that ‘Imran Khan kept the jewelery set received from the Saudi Crown Prince for a very small amount. During the investigation, it was found that this jewelery set was reported to Tosha Khana by the Military Secretary but was not submitted. Thus, Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan ministered against Tosha Khana laws, both of them using their authority to set the desired price of the jewelery set.
According to the NAB document: ‘The total value of the jewelery set was 1 billion 57 crore 4 million rupees, for which Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi paid 9 million rupees.’
The Accountability Court sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison on January 31 this year for buying the gifts of the Tosha Khana case at a price below their value.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were also fined Rs 1 billion 57 crore and Imran Khan was disqualified by the court for 10 years.
Later, the Islamabad High Court on April 1, 2024 suspended the sentences in the Tosha Khana reference and ordered their release if they are not wanted in any other case.
Election Commission Toshakhana case
The first case of Tosha Khana against Imran Khan was sent to the Election Commission by the opposition parties in 2022.
On the request of five members of the National Assembly, including PML-N leader Mohsin Shah Nawaz Ranjha, the Speaker of the National Assembly sent the matter to the Election Commission. In this reference, it was alleged that Imran Khan did not disclose the income earned by selling gifts from Tosha Khana in assets, hence he was not honest. On this basis, the reference sought the disqualification of Imran Khan under Article 62 (one) (f).

In this case, the Election Commission on 21 October 2022 had declared the Tosha Khana reference filed against former Imran Khan ineligible and sent the reference of criminal proceedings against him to the court.
