Private sector places the price of vaccines between 60 and 120 dollars

Huniades Urbina Medina, president of the National Academy of Medicine (ANM), pointed out that Access to health in the private sector shows costs well above the income of Venezuelans.

The expert, as reported by Banca y Negocios, explained that the vaccines cost between 60 and 120 dollars in private centers. The number rises when it comes to the injection of the human papillomavirus (HPV)which can reach up to $185.

“The price of private vaccination is variable depending on the place where they buy the vaccines, whether they buy it in larger quantities or smaller quantities”held.

Such a situation, added Urbina Medina, leads a large part of the Venezuelan population to depend on State programs and thus guarantee the application of the vaccines. A solution for the president of the ANM would be to increase investment in these plans and thus cover as many people as possible.

An optimal strategy would rely on measures to control diseases such as diarrhea, tuberculosis, polio, diphtheria, measles and rubella, among others.

Regarding the vaccination rate in the country, he stated that There are no official figures provided by the Stateso they adjust their numbers to estimates from the Pan American Health Organization and Unicef.
