Volvo is investigating the car involved in the incident at Kolbotn

– As we have the incident in Sandvika fresh in our minds, it is something we have to investigate, says investigation manager Silje Stokken Uppheim at Follo police station to TV 2.

The incident in Sandvika that is referred to happened on Monday last week. Then a car of the same model drove out of a parking garage on the fourth floor of the Sandvika shopping center in Bærum at high speed, collided with the wall on the opposite side, and crashed to the ground. A man in his 60s died in the accident.

The car in Sandvika was recalled in 2022 due to a technical fault with the model which caused it to accelerate by itself. The car at Kolbotn was not among these, as it was not produced during the period the recall applied to.

– It is true that Volvo will carry out technical examinations of the car at Kolbotn. We are available to the police and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration and will assist them with the information we have. We cannot make further comments until the results of the investigations are available, writes communications manager Erik Trosby in Volvo Norway to NTB.

According to Østlandets Blad the driver of the car at Kolbotn was a man in his 80s. The garage must have belonged to an apartment complex, and the man received a cut on the head.
