The Blu-ray of the Japanese-English co-production “Cotton Tail,” which was released in theaters on March 1st, was released on October 2nd. To celebrate, a part of the cast interview, which is a bonus video, was released for the first time along with a comment video.
This film is a road movie about a man traveling from Tokyo to England to fulfill his wife’s last wish. The film depicts the love and rebirth of a family and won the Best First Feature Award at the 18th Rome International Film Festival.
In the cast interview released this time, lead actress Lily Franky looks back on the work. He said that he felt more congratulated for the completion of the film and for the British director Patrick Dickinson winning the prestigious award than for how he himself appeared in the film. This makes Rin nod loudly. Filming began during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, so the footage shows the team’s cohesiveness as they worked together across borders to film on irregular occasions.
Lily Franky also says that there are many scenes in this film that give a heavy impression. In the unreleased scene collection of the main story included on Blu-ray, you can see the scene where Kenzaburo, played by him, walks alone through the streets of England with a worried look on his face in order to fulfill the wishes of his wife Akiko.
In addition, 72 minutes of gorgeous bonus footage is included, including an uncut version of the Japan Premiere stage greeting. A postcard set (5 pieces) is also included as a first-time limited bonus.

story
A journey from Tokyo to England’s Lake District to fulfill my late wife’s wishes.
Akiko (Tae Kimura), the beloved wife of Kenzaburo Oshima (Lily Franky), a writer in her 60s, passes away after battling illness. Kenzaburo, overwhelmed by an irresistible sense of loss, receives a letter that Akiko entrusted to the temple’s chief priest when she was still alive. It contained Akiko’s final wish for her ashes to be scattered in Lake Windermere in England, which she loved. In order to fulfill his will, Kenzaburo leaves for England with his long-estranged son Kei (Ryo Nishikido), his wife Satsuki (Rin Takanashi), and their 4-year-old grandchild Emi. However, Kenzaburo and Kei have a grudge against each other, and they clash every now and then. Kanezaburo heads alone from London to the Lake District, but loses a signpost along the way.
