Putin says that more than 60% of Russia’s energy exports correspond to the Asia-Pacific

More than 60% of Russia’s energy exports are destined for the Asia-Pacific regiondeclared the Russian president, Vladimir Putinspeaking at the plenary session of the Russian Energy Week.

“If before the percentage of the Asia-Pacific region in our energy exports was approximately 39%, at the end of last year it increased 1.5 times and already exceeds 60%”noted the head of the Kremlin.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Russia has increased its pumping of oil y gas to countries like China, India and Uzbekistan.

He added that “friendly countries represent more than 90% of Russia’s energy exports,” referring to the reduction of supplies to unfriendly Western countries.

Likewise, he assured that 40% of foreign trade operations are carried out in rubles.

Putin acknowledged “difficulties” in payments for Russian exports, alluding to Western sanctions, but assured that Moscow’s partners are interested in solving them through transactions in national currencies.

“There are also certain difficulties here and we understand them very well, but we are solving them gradually,” he assured those attending the plenary session of Energy Week, among whom were the president of Guinea Equatorial, Teodoro Obiangand the Venezuelan vice president, Delcy Rodríguez.

The Russian leader affirmed that all the tasks facing the Russian energy sector will be achieved and the country will remain committed to its obligations to its partners.

“Russia fulfills its obligations to supply energy resources to the world market, plays a stabilizing role in it, participating in such prestigious formats as the OPEC+ and the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries,” he emphasized.

To this end, it also commissioned the Government and the gas giant Gazprom prepare a “development plan” for the next ten years, which takes into account the redistribution of Russian fuel supply routes due to sanctions for the war in Ukraine.

“I ask the company (Gazprom) to, together with the government, prepare a ten-year plan, the implementation of which will undoubtedly guarantee the sustainable development of the corporation and the creation of infrastructure to change the geography of supplies,” he stressed.

Putin also referred to domestic energy consumption in Russia, which exceeded the volumes of the Soviet period, he said.

“According to last year’s results, the volume of energy consumption in Russia once again set a new record, which exceeds the indicators of the Soviet period,” Putin said, adding that this indicator is a sign of the country’s economic growth.
