Who is the person of Indian origin allegedly involved in Hezbollah pager blasts?

Jose, 39, disappeared from the US last week during a business trip. He is the founder of a Bulgarian company that was allegedly part of the Pager supply chain.

When asked what steps were being taken to find Jose, police told Reuters in an email: ‘Yesterday, September 25, Oslo police received a missing person report in connection with the pager case. Received.’

“A case of disappearance has been opened and we have issued an international warrant for the person concerned,” the police added.

Norwegian police, Kripos, which handles international requests, confirmed to Reuters it had sent such a request but declined to provide further details.

When a person goes missing abroad, a global alert or ‘yellow notice’ is usually issued, a Kripos spokesman said. However, depending on the situation, foreign counterparts can also be contacted directly.

Interpol was not immediately available for comment.

When reached by phone about the pagers on Wednesday, September 18, Jose declined to comment and hung up when asked about the Bulgarian business. He did not respond to several calls and messages made later.

Jose’s Norwegian employer, DN Media Group, said he left for a conference in Boston on September 17 and the company was unable to contact him after September 18. He works in the sales department of the group.

According to the Bulgarian corporate registry, Jose founded the Sofia-based company Norta Global Limited in 2022.

Bulgaria investigated the company to see if it had any role in supplying the pagers, but found no evidence that the pagers were manufactured in or exported to Bulgaria.

The Norwegian Security Police (PST) has also launched a preliminary investigation into whether a Norwegian-owned company is connected to the sale of pagers.

Over two days last week, thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah operatives exploded in Lebanon, killing at least 39 people and injuring thousands.

The attacks are widely believed to be carried out by Israel, but Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its role.
