The first accredited center in Emilia-Romagna for the rehabilitation of patients with Parkinson’s disease was created in Bologna. The official inauguration will be on October 4th, but the doors of the structure have been open since last May. The Centre, among the very few in Italy, adopts a multidisciplinary approach and offers patients an intensive rehabilitation program lasting 4-8 weeks with the synergistic work of neurologists, physiatrists, physiotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, speech therapists and nutritionists to best manage the symptoms of the disease and improve the quality of life. Among the activities proposed, also Qi-gong, painting and dance sessions. The structure, of over 1000 square metres, is located in the Villa Baruzziana complex which financed it with 4 million euros and is dedicated to Paolo Baldini, a neurologist from Bologna who already in 2015 began to imagine a place that could help those suffering from Parkinson. “The objective of our Center is to improve the quality of life of patients and their families – explains Vincenzo Neri, case manager and healthcare coordinator – and great attention is in fact dedicated to the caregiver who can also find psychological support here”.
