Saudi Arabia decides to provide relief aid to Lebanon and financial aid to Gaza

Saudi Arabia – The Saudi leadership directed the provision of medical and relief aid to the Lebanese people, in addition to monthly financial support to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and its environs, according to official media on Sunday evening.

The agency said: “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is following with great concern the developments of the current events in the sisterly Republic of Lebanon.”

Since September 23, the Israeli army has launched the “most violent and widespread” attack on Lebanon since the beginning of the confrontations with the Lebanese factions about a year ago, resulting, as of Sunday evening, at least 900 dead, including children and women, and 2,594 wounded, according to Anatolia’s monitoring of Lebanese authorities’ data.

Meanwhile, sirens continue to sound at an unprecedented rate across Israel, following massive launching by Lebanese factions of missiles, drones, and artillery shells targeting military sites and settlements, amid a strict blackout from Israeli military oversight of human and material losses, according to observers.

Riyadh stressed “the necessity of preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and its standing by the brotherly Lebanese people in facing the repercussions of these events, and the need to limit their humanitarian consequences,” according to SPA.

She called on the international community to “assume its responsibilities towards protecting regional peace and security, to spare the region and its peoples the dangers and tragedies of wars.”

According to the agency, directives were issued by the Kingdom’s leadership to “provide medical and relief aid to the brotherly Lebanese people, to support them in facing these critical circumstances.”

Medical and relief aid has already arrived in Lebanon from Arab, Islamic and Western countries, including Turkey, Jordan, Iraq and France.

Since October 8, 2023, Lebanese and Palestinian factions in Lebanon, most notably the Lebanese factions, have exchanged daily bombardments with the Israeli army across the dividing “Blue Line,” which as of Sunday evening resulted in 1,748 deaths, including children and women, and 8,693 wounded, according to monitoring. Anatolia for official statements.

These factions are demanding an end to the war waged by Israel, with American support, on the Gaza Strip since October 7, which has left more than 137,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.

For decades, Israel has occupied Arab lands in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine.

Saudi Arabia also announced, on Sunday evening, “providing monthly financial support (its value was not revealed) to the brothers in Palestine, to contribute to addressing the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings.”

In parallel with its war on Gaza, the Israeli army and settlers escalated their attacks in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Which led to the killing of 719 Palestinians, including 160 children, the injury of about 6,200, and the arrest of about 11,000, according to official Palestinian sources.

SPA stated that the monthly financial support aims to “alleviate the effects of the suffering caused by the Israeli occupation in its flagrant violations of all international laws and norms, including international humanitarian law.”

“It also comes as a continuation of what the Kingdom has provided over the past years in humanitarian, relief and development aid to the brotherly Palestinian people in an amount exceeding 5.3 billion dollars,” according to the agency.

Riyadh said that it “pays most of its attention to the Palestinian issue, which is its central and priority issue, as it has made all possible efforts since the beginning of the crisis to contain the existing crisis in the Gaza Strip and address the critical humanitarian situation.”

It renewed the call for “a ceasefire, the protection of civilians, and the entry of more humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.”

She stressed the necessity of “finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue that enables the brotherly Palestinian people to obtain all their legitimate rights and establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
