After winning the championship in the association league last season, TSV Untergröningen is now back in the fifth highest German table tennis league. The team’s start to the league was more than successful against TTV Weinheim-West II. After almost two hours of play, the scoreboard showed the score was 10-0.
A good double start
The two doubles teams ensured a good start to the game: Miriam Kuhnle and Cristina Krauß celebrated an easy 3-0 win over Heike Fuhrmann and Ute Reisig. At the next table, the newly formed Untergröninger doubles with Nina Merkel and Laura Henninger played well and only had to give up the third set to the guests Sabine Jakoby and Johanna Knapp.
Miriam Kuhnle wins 3-0
With a 2-0 lead behind them, the front pair crossed into the box. Miriam Kuhnle earned a 3-0 win over Johanna Knapp, while at the next table Nina Merkel had to struggle more with Sabine Jakoby’s game. After losing the first set, Nina Merkel kept her nerve and narrowly won the following three sets on her debut in the Untergröninger dress.
Laura Henninger gets the decisive point
Cristina Krauß had few problems in her game against Ute Reisig and contributed the next point with her 3-0 win and thus a secure draw for Untergröningen. Laura Henninger had to fight harder that day in her first singles match against Heike Fuhrmann. After she was already behind with 1:2 sets and 8:10, she again turned the deficit from 5:7 to 11:7 in the deciding set. She earned the winning point for her team in front of almost 50 spectators.
All games are played
In the top league, all games are played – even if the sixth point and thus a certain victory have already been achieved. This means that two doubles and eight singles must be played in every game.
Top game of the day
In the top game of the day, Miriam Kuhnle went into the box against the experienced Sabine Jakoby. With the score at 1:1, Miriam Kuhnle played more and more strongly and impressed with her aggressive top spins. At the next table, Nina Merkel was able to achieve a 3-0 win against Johanna Knapp in an exciting game.
In the back pair cross, both players, Cristina Krauß and Laura Henninger, were able to win their game 3-0 against Heike Fuhrmann and Ute Reisig respectively.
After just under two hours the 10-0 win is perfect
After just under two hours, the 10-0 opening win for the Untergröningen women was perfect and the relief was great. The chances had already been calculated in advance, but no one would have guessed at the beginning that the game would be so clear.
