Historic success for the German darts sport on the Rhine knee in Basel: At the premiere of the European Tour in the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Martin Schindler was the first German ever to celebrate his second PDC tournament victory in one season.

When no one thought it was possible, Martin Schindler struck: the Brandenburg player was down 1:4 and 4:7 against Ryan Searle in the final of the Swiss Darts Trophy in Basel. But he worked his way back while the Englishman was unable to use seven championship darts to win.

Schindler’s 8:7 victory in the Decider was a first: the 28-year-old was the first German ever to win two PDC tournaments in one season on the European Tour. “I had my timing, even at the back, but he was actually the better player for a long time. This is darts. That’s how darts are,” said Schindler, who could hardly believe his triumph at the PDC premiere in Basel’s St. Jakobshalle. More than 20,000 fans attended the three-day tournament.
