A figure in the community of Guérande (Loire-Atlantique) died suddenly on September 28 at the age of 71.
Blood donation, football, twinning, hiking…
Michel Ménager was involved in many associative structures, including the voluntary blood donation association where he was president for 21 years and a member for more than 35 years.
Michel Ménager was also a member of Saint-Aubin football of which he was manager, in charge of training young people, Pieds Salés, where he ensured the security of the annual La Salicorne hike and managed the website, Bro Gwenrann, of the Guérande-Dinkelsbühl twinning committee or Crédit Mutuel of which he was a director, among others.
He had also participated in the organization of multiple fairs at the Saint-Aubin school, the Brittany Book Festival and Telethon evenings.
“A very discreet man”
“We have lost our pillar”, indicates Élise Retailleau who succeeded him, two years ago, as president of blood donors and was, with him, a spectator of the handball match, in Guérande, on September 20, 2024 .
A very discreet man and a valuable character for the associations in which he was involved.
Philippe Laforge, president of Pieds Salés.
Commitment, a family tradition
Michel Ménager considered this associative commitment to be in the service of others, in a family tradition inherited from his parents, and in discretion.
He was one of the children of Michel Ménager, mayor of Guérande from 1957 to 1979, who passed on this associative and collective involvement to them.
Very active on the Culs salés page
Michel Ménager was a retired computer scientist, a position he held in the Corning Pouyet company in Pontchâteau, a skill that he often made available to the associations to which he belonged.
He was active on the page Facebook Les Culs salés to promote associative actions, sport, blood donation or the Denez concert in Guérande this Friday October 4, 2024.
“He didn’t know how to say no”
Michel Ménager received the medal from the City of Guérande for all of his community commitment during the general assembly of the Voluntary Blood Donation Association in 2020.
“He didn’t know how to say no. If you asked him, he always said “there,” is the memory he will leave to everyone.
His funeral will take place on Friday October 4, 2024, at 2 p.m., at the Saint-Aubin collegiate church in Guérande.
