Stefanos Kasselakis was found at the Agios Panteleimon police station on Friday afternoon (27.09.2024), in the wake of the death of the immigrant Mohamed Kamran Asik from Pakistan.

The former president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, went to the police station of Agios Panteleimon, after the incident of the death of the Pakistani immigrant, Mohamed Kamran Asik.

It is recalled that the case that saw the light of day on Thursday (26.09.2024) and an investigation is already underway, has caused strong reactions.

Among others, Amnesty International also intervened, requesting “an immediate, thorough, transparent and effective investigation, including the investigation of a possible discriminatory motive.”

SYRIZA has also issued a statement asking for more light to be shed on the case.

Earlier, SYRIZA-PS issued a statement, stressing that Mohamed Kamran Asik “was found in the temporary detention area of ​​the AT, which is the only one that is not monitored by security cameras. The leadership of the Greek Police and the Ministry of Citizen Protection are obliged to immediately provide clear, convincing and complete answers about the circumstances under which a man lost his life at the hands of the police.”

SYRIZA – PS pointed out that “the immediate criminal investigation by the prosecution authorities and the administrative investigation by the Hellenic Police headquarters are conditions for the protection of the rule of law”.

Finally, the official opposition party called on the Greek state and the judicial authorities to protect the rule of law and human rights and to shed ample light on the case.
