Retirees and pensioners gather this Tuesday, October 1, in front of the headquarters of the United Nations (UN), located in the Chacao municipality in Caracas, to demand a better quality of life in Venezuela.

The protesters have posters demanding the payment of a decent pension, so they prepared a document with their demands on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons. The request would be delivered to the UN humanitarian coordinator in Venezuela, Gianluca Rampolla.

Among other demands of those protesting is access to food and timely medical care. People also shout slogans in favor of job benefits and the payment of outstanding debts. The workers urge the Venezuelan State to offer a response to their requests.

So far in 2024, retirees and pensioners have protested on several occasions to demand a better quality of life, as dictated by article 80 of the Constitution of Venezuela.
