Cooperation: visit of a delegation from the State of Delaware of the United States of America to Côte d’Ivoire

A delegation of officials and business leaders from the State of Delaware of the United States of America led by Mrs. Colleen Davis, Minister of Finance of the State of Delaware, visited Côte d’Ivoire, mainly in the Poro region from September 17 to 27, 2024.

“This visit is part of the initiatives of the Poro Regional Council aimed at establishing strong and lasting partnerships, with a view to promoting private investments and technology transfers, for the benefit of the Poro region,” indicated Mr. Fidèle Sarassoro, Minister, Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic and President of the Poro Regional Council.

According to him, the delegation had the opportunity to make a field visit to the Poro region, where it became familiar with agricultural production methods and learned about housing needs as well as the potential of region, in terms of investment.

The mission was particularly interested in the possibilities of collaboration with the Peleforo Gon Coulibaly University of Korhogo and the National Center for Agronomic Research (CNRA), particularly in the areas of scientific research, exchange and reciprocal immersion programs for students and scholarships.

“We have taken note of the ambition of the Poro regional council to facilitate the establishment of partners and investors who can support the council in the agricultural and real estate fields, as well as in the fight against the harmful effects of climate change,” said Colleen Davis, head of delegation.

The delegation expressed its gratitude to all the high authorities and heads of structures in Côte d’Ivoire for their warm welcome, and conveyed the cordial greetings of the Governor of the State of Delaware as well as those of Senator Christopher COONS, to Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara.

The state of Delaware is one of the most prosperous states in the United States of America. It is home to the headquarters of approximately 50% of America’s publicly traded companies, in New York, and is known for its business-friendly laws and low taxes as well as its promotion of entrepreneurship and business, particularly in the of agro-industry.
