Natuna DISTRICT is one of the districts in the Riau Islands Province which is included in the categories of underdeveloped, frontier and outermost regions (3T) in Indonesia.
There is great economic potential, but it is hampered by a lack of legal and safe financial access, especially in terms of capital.
Seeing this condition, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) through the Mekaar program is present on Natuna Island as a financial solution for underprivileged women.
The opening of the Mekaar Bunguran Timur unit on Natuna Island is PNM’s step to encourage women’s empowerment and local economic development.
On this occasion, PNM also distributed Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) funds by providing free health checks to the surrounding community.
PNM Business Director, Prasetya Sayekti, introduced PNM to the community and explained the company’s commitment to helping people’s economic growth in the 3T area, one of which is through the Mekaar Bunguran Timur unit.

“We hope that the presence of PNM Mekaar Bunguran Timur will be well received by the community and become a safe financial solution for mothers so they are not trapped by loan sharks,” explained Prasetya on Friday (27/9).
With the existence of the PNM Mekaar unit, PNM hopes to empower women and local communities through affordable financing programs and business assistance, so that customers’ businesses can move up in class.
“Increasingly empowered women have the potential to improve the local economy and create new jobs in Natuna,” he added.

The empowerment provided includes three capitals, namely financial, intellectual and social capital.
