Expansion in financial regulatory law at Deloitte Legal: Felix Brandes moves to the Hanover office as a partner

With Felix Brandes, Deloitte Legal has gained another specialist in financial regulatory law in Hanover. After working as an in-house lawyer at a major German bank and as a lawyer at a US law firm, Felix Brandes most recently worked for the legal advisory arm of another Big 4 company.

The 46-year-old Brandes will join Deloitte Legal’s cross-location financial regulatory team as a partner from October 1, 2024. At Deloitte Legal, Brandes advises German and international clients on all matters relating to financial regulatory law. Mr. Brandes has a particular focus on consulting with development banks. In addition, as before, he will support credit and securities institutions on topics related to the Securities Trading Act as well as on regulatory requirements for innovative business models and financial products including “banking-as-a-service” and crypto assets.

“We are very much looking forward to working with Felix Brandes,” says Dr. Mathias Hanten, Head of the Banking & Finance Service Area at Deloitte Legal. “With his special expertise in the law of development banks and his experience from his previous work as an in-house lawyer at a major bank, Felix rounds off our expertise perfectly.” Andreas Jentgens, Managing Partner of Deloitte Legal, adds: “With his profound specialist knowledge, Felix creates additional cross-divisional advisory opportunities in financial regulatory law, especially for development banks. This supports the implementation of our medium and long-term growth strategy.” The Hanover office manager of Deloitte Legal, Dr. Harald Stang, particularly welcomes the fact that the location is strengthening itself with local banking regulatory expertise.

Felix Brandes says of his move: “One of the main reasons for my decision to join Deloitte Legal is the broad-based, excellently networked and super-friendly team. In view of the increasingly complex challenges and interactions in financial regulatory law, I am firmly convinced that with the interdisciplinary approach that Deloitte practices, we can develop and implement even more efficient and effective solutions for our clients. I am pleased to be able to contribute to this.”
